"I'm not afraid... I'm on my way!"
It's that age old story: girl meets boy, boy is werewolf, girl doesn't know how she feels about that. Winifred Underwood (don't call her Winnie) is a typical American girl, moved with her family to the mountains between Italy and Germany. She wants to grow up, to explore, and to get to know the boy next door a little better. Too bad when the moon is full, handsome young Adolpho grows fangs and fur... Soon, Winnie and Adolpho are wrapped up in an adventure full of growing pains, tap-dancing lycanthropes, testy grandmothers, mysterious monks, young love, mortal peril, and cake. Lots of cake.
When David Mahokey ("In Control," "Mermaid," "Snow White") was accepted into NYU, collaborators Greg Kerestan and Anthony Marino recruited rising multi-talented composer Lena Gabrielle to replace him on "Little Red." Commuting back and forth from New York to Pittsburgh on a weekly basis, writing on her way up and down, Gabrielle contributed a rich and entertaining score showing the breadth of her influences- from Disney to Sondheim, with hints of pop, jazz, classical and even video game composition contributing to the show's sound. Though the teen and "tween" roles of Winifred, Charlotte and Adolpho can be played by young adult actors, the show provides an opportunity incorporating talented young performers in these roles.
